Glucomodulation is the mixture of ingredients with a low glycaemic index (GI), meaning they can be digested slowly by your dog. This releases the energy and sugars slowly, reducing the risk of hypoglycaemia, a condition that results from excessive sugar in the bloodstream. As your dog will have a weakened ability to digest food, glucomodulation is a great way to reduce pressure on their digestive system.

Royal Canin Diabetic Special is specially formulated for dogs with diabetes. The low carbohydrate content gives lower blood glucose levels after feeding and better gluco modulation is achieved because maize releases its glucose into the bloodstream more slowly than other carbohydrate sources. The high fibre content of the diet also slows down the absorption of nutrients in the small intestine improving glycemic control. Diabetic Special should only be fed under the guidance of your veterinary surgeon.
